Barbara Burry (1909–2010) was a British-born South African painter whose work encompassed landscape, still life, figure studies, and abstraction. Born in London, she studied at the Brighton School of Art under Professor Alfred Krenz before emigrating to South Africa in 1952.

A member of both the South African Association of Arts and the Somerset West Art Group, Burry developed a distinctive visual language characterised by strong colour relationships, simplified forms, and an increasingly modernist approach to composition. While many of her paintings drew upon familiar subjects such as flowers, figures, fishing communities, and rural landscapes, she also explored abstraction, producing works that reveal an interest in structure, pattern, and colour as expressive elements in their own right.

Working throughout the second half of the twentieth century, Burry formed part of the generation of artists who contributed to the development of modernist and abstract art in South Africa. Her paintings continue to be represented in private collections throughout South Africa and abroad.
