Bio

İsmail Yılmaz is a self-taught visual artist from Turkey, whose chosen medium is photography and video. Yılmaz seeks to interrogate the relationship of the individual with themselves, as well as within society and more broadly, the universe. Focusing on the body, its existence and absence in nature, İsmail’s works observe our complex bond with our environment.

İsmail’s works have recently been exhibited at Contemporary İstanbul, Zilberman and has attended various workshops, among which were organized by GAPO, an organizational and curatorial team specialized in photography and visual arts and artist Orhan Cem Çetin. Since graduating from the Anadolu University in Eskişehir in 2013, Yılmaz currently lives and works in Ankara, Turkey.
